Covid Safe Practice

COVID19 - Important Information Regarding Dance Lessons

The rule of 6 is aimed at unorganised and unregulated social gatherings, house parties, raves, gangs in parks and city centres etc. It will give the Police the extra powers they need to deal with such events. For organised events the rules have only changed in so much the individual groups of more than 6 will not be permitted.

Extract from PM statement:

"COVID Secure venues like places of worship, gyms, restaurants and hospitality venues can still hold more than 6 people in total. Within those venues however, there must not be individual groups larger than 6, and groups must not mix socially or form larger groups."

Dance classes are permited allbeit that social dances are not. The government has confirmed that, nightclubs, along with dance halls and discotheques, will stay shut and will remain closed by law for the time being. This makes Social Dances not possible at this time. However, Dance Instruction is permitted providing the floor is zoned of for each couple to maintain social distances.

We are required to use the following regulations in order to keep Members and Staff safe.

  1. Inform staff, customers and authorised visitors, via the website, booking forms and on site signage, of strict guidance to be followed when visiting the premises and using the dance floor.
  2. Provide handwashing and hand sanitiser and encouraging staff and customers to wash their hands regularly.
  3. Ensure that teachers wear face masks.
  4. Make contactless payments available throughout facility.
  5. Signage to ensure workers, staff and customers are aware of the need to avoid contact throughout the facility.
  6. Restrict the numbers of dancers on the dance floor to ensure that appropriate distancing remains intact at all times.
  7. Manage lesson times to avoid any queuing or overlap between customers.
  8. Fixing doors open that can be safely left open where feasible and open widows to conform to ventilation requirements.
  9. Collect details and maintain records of staff, customers and visitors on their premises to support NHS Test and Trace.
  10. Refuse admission to the premises to casual visitors.

All lessons will have to be booked and paid for in advance. We will not be able to let casual visitors in, nor will we be taking cash payments. As soon as a lesson is booked a full set of instructions on the use of the car park, entrance and hall together with payment options will be emailed to each couple/person making the booking.
